What I Have Learned

This semester, I learned a lot about features of Word that I did not know existed. I learned how to make a tri-fold brochure and use Excel. I also learned how to write in HTML code, what HTML stands for and why it was created. I learned how to create a blog and many uses for blogs in education. I learned how to set up a tab table. I am sure there is more that I learned but I cannot think of right now...

I enjoyed Hilary and Brandy's presentations. Both were interesting and Hilary's was funny.

Using blogs in the classroom

I think that using blogs in the classroom can be very useful. One positive thing that I can say about blogging is that it could be helpful to a forgetful student. If a teacher posted assignments on the class blog, a student who forgot to write their homework assignment down could easily log on the web and check it. If a student had a question about a particular assignment, they could get on and ask for clarification.

There are some downfalls to using blogs, though. If all students did not have access to an Internet ready computer, they might not be able to blog with the class. Students could also post untruths about assignments such as the deadline has been pushed back or that the assignment is no longer due.

Over all, I believe that using blogs in the classroom is useful to students, parents and teachers.

It has been a long day. I just got confirmation that my neighbor passed away Friday and his funeral was today. I also found out that a classmate lost a friend and his funeral is tomorrow. My classmate and I were supposed to go evaluate a music teacher for another class tomorrow, but I guess that will have to wait.

So glad that we did the powerpoints! I learned a lot about everybody in the class. Some presentations were really amusing. Good luck to everyone with the brochures

I am nervous about the powerpoint because the syllabus says that it must be formal and not a multimedia event. I always have a tendency to make presentations "cutsie" and maybe overdo the graphics, pictures, sound effects, etc. We'll see how it goes!

Week One: Learning how to set up a blog

Welcome to my first blog! During a game of Battle of the Sexes, I recently learned that blog is short for web log. I have read friends' blogs on myspace but I have never written a blog before. The most difficult part was setting up the username and password. This is the first of many blogs to come.
